Well now, let me see, my step great-grandfather on my fathers side (now thats a mouthfull!) worked for the Northern Pacific, he started out firing a switch engine (#924) and later went on to drive locomotives over Stampede Pass. In fact I have a photo of him on the 924 in Evrette, Washinton, About 1915. Theres an interesting story behind that too. My step-grandfather recently gave me that photo of No. 924 and so I did a bit of reasearch and I found out that No. 924 now resides at the Northwest Railway Museum in Snoqualmie, Washinton! That museum has been one I have visited many times over the years, and I had never know that my step great-grandfather was her fireman. It was very exciting. Unfortunately there isn't any narrow gauge in my family...
But, I guess I don't live in the right part of the country for that.
