Good point Fred.
By looking at D&S's track between Hermosa and DRO, I have to say that by comparsion the C&TS's track looked better at the spots I could see from the highway. The D&S's track is veeery uneven, even though it's ballasted. That's what contributes to running gear wear and tear, especially at higher speeds. The C&TS's track crew is doing a GREAT JOB with it's limited resources.
