Good Morning,
A bunch of us attended the Loop Communications Committee meeting in Georgetown last night. It was pretty interesting to see the profound ignorance demonstrated by CHS reps concerning railroading in general and historic mountain steam railroading in particular in an up close and personal situation. I will leave it to others on this board who attended to give the gruesome details of the discussions - here are my two key points...
1) CHS plans a media blitz to engage railfans in their scheme...I encouraged this. Every time CHS opens their mouth in the press they shoot themselves in the foot and they further demonstrate how completely inept they are. Sit back and enjoy a few great moments while they try to convince you they know what they are doing and will actually have real steam on the Loop next year!
2) I think the quickest way to get this thing turned around and straightened out is to get to the State Attorney General Ken Salazar - he is running against Pete Coors for Senator this election cycle. Do any of you know the Salazar inner circle? Family? Campaign staff? Major supporters? If we can get a couple of face to faces with Salazar, I think there will be rapid progress on getting a fresh run at this situation. Back channel me and we will get this ball rolling ASAP.
