I believe the loop was completed in 93 or 94, can't remember for sure which year. In those days we were rebuilding running gears at the rate of about one per year. I dont think loose running gears was the reason the engines could get around the loop. I suspect a more likley recent culprit is the accumulation of sun kinks etc to which relatively new track is prone when not frequently re-lined and tamped.
