There was a water tank inside at the top, with gravity feed to outlets where needed. It also hid a dual-purpose still, which at one time was used to convert the rancho's home-made wine into a passable brandy, and to distill tequila (The town was named Santa MARGARITA for a good reason). Today the still still works, supplying soft water for the PCRR's locomotive boilers - see [ngdiscussion.net].
