Rob , along with partners Karl Wittsrom, Ron Hertel, and Doug Filliponi, are I believe the sixth owners of the property. Estrada sold out about 1861 to Martin Murphy, Jr., a prominent figure in California history who had also owned the Pastoria de las Borregas rancho in Santa Clara County (modern-day Sunnyvale and Mountain View). The ranch remained in the Murphy family through the turn of the century, and it was Murphy's son, Patrick, who deeded ranch land both to the SP's real estate division and to create the Town of Santa Margarita. He also built the barn over the Asitencia, which has arrested the decay of its historic walls.
Since the Murphys, two other families (and for a time, Stanford University) have held title to the Ranch prior to the current partnership.
