Russ,
You didn't miss it -- the Harpur was only hot Friday. We did two doubleheaders with her (the pics show the second; I was firing on the first) and called it a day. The original hope was to be able to use it for the event, but some "ambulatory surgery" which attempted to correct "complications" from the Round-Up were unsuccessful. I walked down and drained 'er belly this morning and back in the hole she sits.
But man, did you still skip town before the real fun started. Badger and I were on engine crew today and shot an Emeril-style backhead cooking video (of course, only while on the spot or sitting a run out; "no enginemen were distracted from their duties while making this film!") After lighting off, we made no haste throwing on a piping hot breakfast, later followed by lunch and oil tray-baked cookies. Other options included trycock cocoa and peephole-roasted marshmallows. We still need to work on wittier names for the entrees.
If it comes out good enough, perhaps we'll have to sell "Iron Horse Chef" DVDs to benefit that poor old (hmm, well maybe wrong adjective!) Harpur. I'd suggest a backhead bake sale if not for the cost of fuel and the fact that the general public probably wouldn't eat this stuff for $50! Oh well, the more yummy, oily, carbon-coated goodness for the rest of us. Perhaps we can make a box set with the cookbook if Phil ever gets around to writing it...
