The B-24 had very heavy controls, poor access to get in and out of it, and would sometimes break up upon belly landing. The nosewheels were badly designed and too weak and the fuel tanks were in a dangerous location and prone to leaking. The interiors (as typical of bombers of the era) were cold, cramped, loud, and basically miserable. Bomber service was not pleasant.
If there was any consolation for those guys, it was knowing that their enemies had it a lot worse. Most German and virtually all Japanese bomber types were garbage compared to their Allied equivalents.
