I also thought that it was a well done article, with a fresh approach. However, I do have one criticism (And here I'm likely to get into trouble). It almost came off as a Friends puff piece. To the unknowing, it could leave the impression that the Friends are the controlling authority on the C&TS.
Obviously this is not the case. The Friends are but one leg of a three-legged stool, the other two being the RGRPC and the Commission. And the operating contract is between the RGRPC and the Commission only. The Friends involvement is through the Triad Agreement.
Not to take away a thing from the tremendous accomplishments of the Friends over the past few years, let's keep things in context and not forget that the C&TS operated for 17 years without the involvement of the Friends. The railroad could operate without the Friends, but it can't without the Commission or an operating entity. But it takes all three to REALLY make it work, which is what we are all striving for.
This camper would have been much happier if the reporter, Dave Lustig, had provided some comments from the RGRPC management, and also the Commission.
But hey, publicity is publicity. I'm thankful for it -- warts and all.
