Chris,
I agree that IF an audit is done I'm afraid it will just be a "bean counter" thing. Just check on the dollars, where they went, money procedures followed, etc. I doubt if the OPERATIONS would be looked at. If they are, the politicians will probably blame Railstar and the cronies with save their butts. While the money aspect is indeed important, all the other issues need to be looked at.
The following is just an observation and not meant to pick on anybody or Railstar. Just a statement of fact...
I just returned from a great Colorado vacation. We rode the Loop, The Leadville, Colorado, & Southern, the Rio Grande Scenic behind 1744 & Earl, and the Durango Silverton. (Rode the CATS last year and didn't have time to do it this year).Everywhere we went everyone was enthusiastic, "glad to see ya", "thanks for riding with us", etc. etc.
EXCEPT at the loop. I got the feeling that the employees there were more than a little demoralized. Can't say I blame them. I don't mean anyone was rude or anything, but there was just "something in the air" about the place and it weren't the coal smoke.
