RRDC did NOT withdraw from Guatemala, they suspended operations as of October 1st. The government basically "siezed" the equipment "for the good of the people", leaving RRDC's customers unsure if their freight would be moved and also forcing RRDC to pay cash up front for all services and supplies. The whole mess is going to court under CAFTA, where RRDC should either collect damages or be allowed to operate the railroad without government interference. RRDC still holds the contract for operating rights.
Even if some locos become available, you'd better be ready with at least $200,000 in your pocket before the scrappers get it.
