It is a good thing CHS and Railstar do not need to make money like a genuine private enterprise.
Let's see --- that's same labor cost for crews, more labor to keep three steamers/diesels/equipment running, more labor for clearing the parking lot of snow and making the loading platforms safe in Silver Plume and Georgetown's winter gales (not too mention the lucky passengers standing waiting to load in the frigid winds and snow), more labor to keep the line open (and a fair amount of fare refunds when the line cannot stay open), slicker track conditions, heavier cars, higher fuel costs and 10% of the passenger revenues which may or may not show up due to the winter weekend I-70 parking lot traffic conditions...hummm? Let me run those numbers...Yep! Looks like another CHS/Railstar brillant move to me.
