I haven't drawn any of the silverton lines on the aerials yet but have explored some of them. I have the same map that Steve mentioned and probably bought it at the same shop. There is an online map from 1902 that might be of interest. It shows all of the lines out of Silverton.

I've been to the Corkscrew Gulch turntable remains a couple of times. I never hiked the whole grade I always approached it from just below the Yankee Girl overlook. I found a trail down there that is used for winter sports. However in recent years I think that there is more private property to be aware of. I have hiked some of the lower grade down below Chattanoga and found a lot of old rotten ties.
I always enjoy heading east of Silverton up towards Animas Forks. A few old building to explore. If I'm feeling real adventerous I continue north and then west over to Mineral Point and then on to meet 550 south of Ouray. At Mineral Point you will find the remains of an interesting processing facility. A couple of old stationary boilers, stamp mill, furnace and some old pickle barrels. I'll stop there and have lunch and wander around. I have some photos of it and the turntable if you are interested.
