Ok explain to me why running the remainder of the way from La Veta to Walsenburg would be difficult because it is owned by the Union Pacific. The SLRG already uses the track to deliver freight. It is not like it is part of the main line used by the Union Pacific. The UP has an agreement with the Canon City and Royal Gorge for use of the track at Canon City. I wonder what would be done about returning the passengers to Alamosa, and would that be by train, plan or automobile. The trip is already an all day excursion, so making it a longer day may only discourage some riders, but hooking up to the Interstate may attract new riders. Could the speed on the ride be improved any to make the travel time shorter? My trip last fall on the SLRG was memorable but the stop in La Veta was a disappointment. Much of the town was closed.
