Not trying to beat up on Marlin either...however a great boxcar restoration has little to do with steam locomotive restoration. I think it is absolutly OK to ask why he would quote 250K for a job that anyone in the locomotive restoration biz knows whould have taken 500 to 700K to bring the engine into shape to handle the grades at the Loop. I do think that CHS (the owner of the loco) should first be held accountable...why did they not have a scope of work, specs, AND oversight by someone that has had lots of experience with restoration of large size engines. Not trying to beat up on Marlin...but it does seem he is accountable as well. So, will the same thing happen to the No.111? I hope someone is asking, looking and watching!
