I had understood that the SP was purchased by D&RGW and used the SP name.
I missed the point that the D&RGW/SP purchased the UP and took the UP name. Wild.
Wilder still, I've told people in the Electronics business that "doing it right the first time" is not always the best approach.
I tell the tail of the D&RGW who built quick and dirty and came back and did it right later versus the DSP&P who did it right and lost the race to Gunnison and Salt Lake City. UP and the CB&Q and C&S later had the South Park while the D&RGW built and lost Western Pacific.
With the understanding that the D&RGW purchased UP and SP, I think former D&RGW Mainline through the Rockies also owns under the same corporate umbrella as the Feather River Route it built almost a 100 years ago for it's western access and the MoPac is also UP for the Eastern Access.
Also, UP and Central Pacific are under one banner finally.
Am I confused?
