I have video of the San Juan and it shows shots of the: 482,483,484,485,488 all pulling various consists of the San Juan and I've heard a story where the 487 was used on a occasion to prove that the running time couldn't be reduced between Durango and Chama. The 487 was used that day because it was said to be rigid and the engineer knowing this didn't push the 487 like he could have. Don't know if it's a true story but makes sense since I'm sure the Grande didn't want to promote the San Juan any more than it had to.
