Tom says,
"Malleys or not, that line down there was the most exciting that I have ever been fortunate to ride over. Miles & miles of 3 plus per cent, huge steel bridges, tunnels, fast running and very friendly crews."
Tom, I second this comment. I visited Guatemala last year at the prompting of John West here at this website. I had the time of my life and was amazed at all the narrow gauge equipment. Posner and RRDC are doing a herculean effort to keep Guatemala in operation (see
www.rrdc.com), but Guatemala narrow gauge could be gone in the blink of an eye. If you're a narrow gauge enthusiast and see the chance to go to Guatemala ... it would be the trip of a lifetime.
