Skip asked a question and commented:
Would it not be a fair question to ask "Why no work was done over the Winter at Silver Plume?" It sure looks like everyone sat around on their hands most of the winter. Very little seems to have been done offsite, either.
Skip, do you know for sure that no work was done over the winter? I would be surprised to learn that the locomotives were not worked on. Last fall, Railstar seems to have promised that winter maintenance would be done. Check out this this paragraph from a "Clear Creek Courant" article, which ran back in October:
Railstar manager Ron Trottier says many of the problems are part of the operation's learning curve and the company is learning from those lessons. Despite the loss of days and capacity, the operator served 73,000 passengers, falling 2,000 short of the season goal but exceeding last year by 12 percent. This winter, the engines will undergo thorough maintenance, and changes are being made to the approach to restoring engines.
Does anyone know what, if any, "thorough maintenance" was actually done to the engines?
