Thanks Jimmy. There are several photos in the RGS Story VI pages 338-339 that show RGS ditcher # 030 loading drop bottom gondolas with earth and/or rip rap material on the RGS. Your note about the ditcher unloading was what caught my eye as I don't think a ditcher would unload rip rap (or other material for that matter) from a loaded gondola. As you surmise a flat car would be more likely used for rip rap especially if the rocks were of significant size. Thanks for sharing.
