Thank you Jerry, and even Jason, for the information I expected to see when this whole thing began. If the scrapping happened as all had expected, it should have been easy and logical to find. I think Jerry Day is due great credit for being really the only heavy-working reasearcher. He has worked the newspapers and nearly every other source. We always enjoy his follow-ups on the snow activities and will love to see that snow-fighting book when it is done.
Regarding the Perry photo date at Antonito, it is likely June 12 or 13, 1942 as he was in the area and covered the San Juan toward Cumbers (or rode it) and was in Chama June 15, 1942. Other than one May date when he was out along the SG main line, it looks like from DPL index that this was the first time Otto Perry took photos after Pear Harbor Day. But he seem to be quite active in 1942 and the so-called photo ban did not seem to stop him.
You would thing there might be just one photo of the scrap train working, at least near Santa Fe before 12/7/1941. Now when was the Chili line rebuilt south of Antonito to reach the Perlite plant?
