Yep, well, not to start a pissing contest, but my first computer was an IBM 1401. No operating system at all. Of all the computers I ever worked on the IBM 360/40 running DOS (Mainframe DOS) with a HUGE 64K (K, not Meg) of memory was the most fun. But I don't think I want to go back to it. I liked VM, too
My first PC was a TRS-80. Also fun. Don't want to go back there, either. Win/95/98/ME/NT is a pain in the ass, for sure. it crashes, it freezes, it dies for no reason, and it's got the most incredible amount of available software, the most astonishing versatility, power, speed and sheer usability of anything I have ever seen.
Narrow Gauge is fun, and I love it. But if I want to get someplace I get on standard gauge.
