Don't forget how this started

February 21, 2007 07:22PM
It is worth noting that what started this latest "problem" were some well deserved and very complimentary remarks by Dick Cowles about the work that John Craft did back in 2000-2001 that benefitted and continue to benefit the C&TS greatly. Personally, I'd also like to thank John Cole and Kim Smith for some kind remarks about those of us who contributed to RGRPC over the years. As John Cole pointed out, no question RGRPC made many mistakes, and nobody is more acutely aware of those mistakes than those of us most closely involved. But we did keep the railroad running. As Kim mentioned, and Lord knows she's seen it all, the real problems were and are very different from the personal attacks and nonsense that have dominated the internet postings. As the C&TS struggles to find a permanent funding and management structure, hopefully the successes as well as failures of the past seven years can get some sober assessment.
