Disappointment reigns among Alamosa ski enthusiasts Sunday when the special train which they were taking for a days outing an Cumbres Pass was unable to get to the pass because of a severe storm. More than 60 skiers had taken the train which left Alamosa Sunday morning with the regular Alamosa-Durango passenger train. Three extra coaches had been added for the sports fans. Heavy snow on the pass kept the train from going west of Antonito, where the coaches were held throughout the day, returning to Alamosa on schedule Sunday night. Several of the skiers telephoned to Alamosa for cars and motored as far up the pass as possible for skiing,
Note: I am working on an article on D&RGW narrow gauge ski trains for the Prospector. I think people will be surprised at how many there were and where they ran.
