Lukas,
Model Railroading is a far bigger hobby in Europe that it is in the USA. If anyone has visited the Nurnburg Toy Fair and compared it to the RCHTA show in Chicago, they will understand the difference. Also, it seems that the narrow gauge tank engines in Europe were sort of standardized, so the manufacturers can sell them in Switzerland, Germany and Austria and still be authentic. They are smaller and cheaper too, so that helps in selling quantity. I'm still waiting for someone to make a nice ready to run HOm 2-10-2t for the HSB, or an HOe 2-10-2t for the Saxon lines though!
Are there any US modelers out there doing European Narrow Gauge? I've picked up some really nice German standard gauge lok's over the years. I'm tempted to do a small switching layout with some dual gauge, using roll wagons on the NG. If I can find the time to build one of the Saxon Meyer kits, maybe I'll model Zitau or Wolkenstein!
