MDC 2-8-0s

About a decade ago MDC offered a HOn3 plastic and Zamac metal kit. It was targeted to modellers who wanted a low-cost alterantiove to HOn3 brass .Unfortunately it was poorly proportioned model ,and ungainly looking when asssembled .It did not approximate any D&RGW prototype .Even the domes did not look like Baldwin or any other builder's domes . MDC also made an outside framed version that was somewhat similar to a C-25 . One time the Narrow Gauge Gazette had a contest to modify this kit into a fine model ,but there were few entries .I think MDC felt a lot of compromises were necessary to employ existing mechanisms ,etc .It was a true failure ,but at least someone made the valiant effort to satisfy this gap in this small model market .
