Re: RGS 0401 COULD HAVE BEEN REBUILT!

October 12, 2006 02:39PM
There definetly was enough of 0401 left to rebuild, had it been blown up today, there is no doubt that it would have been rebuilt.
Parts of it do live on though, the trucks are now under D&RGW 04990 in Boulder along with the couplers. The truss rods, platform steps and end railings, along with some other small parts are on D&RGW 0579 on the Cumbres & Toltec.
The frame of 0401, along with some other parts supposedly went to the dump in the late 1970's.
