In addition to the firebox, as I recall from previous on site examinations, the entire spring rigging is in need of replacement, the driver tires are paper thin, and virtually everything else that would be worn out on the engine is.
The C&S retired this engine completely used up in 1943, and then the RGS squeezed out it's last gasps in 1952.
I have to admit the most recent comments about it's condition seemed to be far less serious than I'd have expected, but it is not a viable candidate for restoration.
I am only hoping at this point that the engine will be put back together and not forgotten.
