I have to comment on your review of 74.
I agree with much of what you said, the tender is i foot too wide, but it really isn't that big a deal since the cab is also a foot too wide. The worst problem with the tender is that the coal bunker is too long by about a foot. With the correct deck on the back, the problem is much diminished.
The problem with the boiler isn't the boiler, it's just about perfect. It's the stupid wings they made for running boards that extend srraight out from the wide cab. Remove the running boards, replace them with ones that are correct size, and it looks pretty darn good. Oh sure, you have to replumb everything, but the bent wire crap they put on there is only good for cleaning out your ears anyway. While you are at it, put on an 11 inch airpump and a correct 18" diameter headlight and you have a 74.
Seriously, I don't worry too much about the oversized cab and tender. With work, you can still have a passable 74.
OMI's Sn3 74 is the real deal.
