Where do you want to start ? A host of models have been turned out over the years in many scales that were inaccurate and poorly detailed .Some looked nothing like the prototype !I will recount the stars in the Brass Hall of Shame .
Westside models Hon3 K-27s ...25 years ago Westside imported a Vauclain compound K-27 as well as an intermediate (simple valve) version .The boilers were several inches larger than the prototype . The frames as well as several other large parts were poorly coined . They looked awful ! The "modern" versions , however ,were properly proportioned .A friend's wife ,in a rage ,put his Vauclain version ,in box ,under the tires of her car and spun out on it,flattening the model! Looking back ,no big loss...Another was Sunset imported some K-28s in On3 and Sn3 .Their biggest problems were the air tanks were too small and the engines sat too high .These problems were not hard to remedy .
PFM ,trying to open up a market in Sn3 ,imported some terrible RGS tenwheelers years ago .Aside from poor workmanship ,the boilers were too big ,making these models ver odd looking .It was a real challenge to make any of these models run .
Many poor models happended along the time when Korea was gearing up to construct brass models .A host of problems ,mainly cultural and logistical ,plagued early Korea importers .It put many fine importers out of business . I suspect since Asia uses the metric system , and drawings had to be "translated"to metric measurements , this was a source of a lot of model inaccuracies . What fine doorstops do any of you have to add to the Brass Model Hall of Shame ?
