Prestologs was (is?) a brand name of pressed chips and sawdust that were popular years ago in the Northwest for home fireplaces and wood stoves. They burned hot, slow and long. However they were more expensive than straight wood and were used mostly by folks only occasionally wanting a cozy fire in the fireplace.
I do not know if there were binders in Prestologs or not. I do know they became sawdust again when wet, so maybe there was little or no binders.
I wish you all well on this and hope this represents a viable solution to the coal smoke issue.
