I am sure there are many people on this board who could give a fair account. I just send her some general information in narrow gauge operations in the past and how the system worked and continues to work. There were no comments about either operator.
I have no axe to grind here. I have ridden the train under both operators and found the service great. The people whom I met with both companies were extremely helpful and very professional. I even got my bald head on Ch 9 riding the train this year.
I must admit that I had a cab ride in Shay 14 but that was through the invitation of engineer Hugo Lackman, whom I knew previously. I also got a free ride on the first run of the Royal Gorge train on Oct. 17,1998 after some other members of our group and I helped clean out the coaches.
Our group also leased our 2-axle mill locomotive CF&I No. 11, also known as ``Little Bob'' to the Colorado Historical Society. That engine is still at the Rocky Mountain Steel Mills mill in Pueblo. I was not involved in that project.
