Here is a link to the 268 which had a specially fitted spark arrestor which actually fit over the entire stack itself. The myth is that stack was the one used at the World Fair that the 268 attended in 1949 in the bee scheme--but it was not the balloon stack that had the top cut off. I believe this design was said to work pretty well, but was never adopted--thankfully.
