I recently had a sort of indirect encounter with Bob. Recently, I have started buying RPO postmarks of various Colorado narrow gauge lines as they come up for sale on ebay (like I need to collect anything else!). Usually they do not sell for very much. However, the one I really wanted to find was one for the Santa Fe Branch. Recently a 1932 Chili Line RPO stamped letter was offered and I was able to win the auction. When I received it, I noticed it was addressed to "Robert W. Richardson" in Akron, Ohio. That just made it that much more special as far as I was concerned. As many of you know, Bob is also a stamp collector--it was interesting to me that he was having letters postmarked on the Chili Line in 1932 while he lived in Ohio. Incidentally, two of the four "San Juan" postmarked letters that I have picked up recently were also mailed by Bob from the Narrow Gauge Motel.
