What if-- WP&Y 69 had the superheater removed so it could operate at a more normal boiler pressure without problems with the slide valves?
Here are the tractive effort figures I get:
180 pounds BP
((180 x .85) x (21 x 21) x 22) / 42 = 35343
190 pounds BP
((190 x .85) x (21 x 21) x 22) / 42 = 37306.5
Not bad for an old narrow gauge 2-8-0.
Does anyone know if the superheater is/ was still in use in 69 in Nebraska?
What boiler pressure is/was being used?
