I know west of the SV, there is still a "ghost town" named Shaniko that was once the largest producer/ exporter of sheep in the world at one time. It was once served by either the Great Southern, or Columbia Southern, I can't remember which. Both were std ga., and ran from the Columbia River south, east of The Dalles, Or.
Both raillines are long gone, but ROW and lineside buildings remain.
