Union Pacific's own records are kept in a huge room at the Western Heritage Museum (the old UP station) in Omaha, Nebraska. The best person to talk to is Bill Kratville; he has an excellent knowledge of the archives. I used the collection once and he knew exactly where everything was located.
If you want to use the archives, I suggest that you do so sometime in the immediate future, because there is a plan in place to move the collection to Council Bluffs, Iowa.
