I wouldn't like to see any of the large K's scrapped. I think the 495 and 494 and 492 are prime candidates for restoration due the fact that they have been dormant for so long now vs. the K-36's which have been running almost continuosly since the early 70's and 80's. I think that the 37's will have their day and I look forward to it. I think the 492 has the newest boiler of all the big K's since it had a new boiler installed in 1948-which is why I'm surprised it hasn't seen service since 1966. The old argument for not restoring the 37's was the age of their boilers---I guess the 492 was clumped in with the others which date back to 1902. If there is going to be steam on the C&TS for a long time to come the 37's will have to play an important role.
