I went up and rode yesterday, and the brass is oxidizing and becoming much darker already. Unless they polish her (please don't!), I think she'll look pretty much "normal" in a few more weeks.
The amazing thing is that she sounds GREAT! Snorting out of the hole at Devil's Gate, with great shots of exhaust blasting up into the sky, gave me goosebumps (even with the aid of the diesel helper).
It's SO incredible to have her back in service again, especially when all that's sitting on Morningstar Siding these days is a beat-up old flatcar.
I'm considering heading back up next week to see if I can catch her without the helper on the shorter train.
