Misleading facts and figures, once again--I didn't pay attention to these amazing figures of $525 million in sales tax revenue until this morning, and if that was the case, as a property owner in La Plata County, I should be receiving a subsidy to be there.
In fact, for 2005, the entire LaPlata County sales tax revenue was $20,915,856 based on sales of $742,683,223. By comparison, Silverton (San Juan County) has 2005 sales tax revenues of $351,894 on sales of $12,510,318, and my source is not the Denver Post but the web site of the Colorado Department of Revenue at [www.metrodenver.org]. Real facts make for real arguments, and in this case, the argument presented was and is hollow.
