Brian:
Thanks for clarifying the master plan process. I thought I had heard though it was still alive and was due this month (6/06)....hey since I am an optimist and there are a couple of days left in June... better late than never....BTW who exactly was/is in charge of this project? If it is the commission then shouldn’t they be responsible to see it through? If no plan is produced does the CHS get its grant money returned by the Commission? How about the Friends being reimbursed too?
Maybe you can offer some insight into some other things I have been wondering about also. The C&TS has been without a CMO now for several years. I question how a multi million dollar RR operation of the scope and complexity of the C&TS can function effectively without this key management position. I also seem to recall contracts to Starfire Engineering for locomotive maintenance and Mark Post of Centennial Engineering for civil engineering and ROW maintenance plans. So who is doing this work now or is it contracted out still. It would seem to me a good CMO would have saved the RR many times over his salary and provided some continuity to the operations (not to mention having to spend hundreds of thousands on consultants).
