If the Peruvians or anyone else where steam locomotives still exist are willing to preserve them, then I'd be in favour of them remaining in the country where they operated as part of their heritage. On the other hand if they are in danger of being lost to the scrapper or jungle rust because no one there appreciates them by all means bring them to the U.S. if for nothing more than static display, especialy those that once operated here in the states. I wonder how the Peruvian economy is and how much the yankee dollar will buy? Any thoughts on how to locate SVRy #50 now that we know it still existed in the early 70's. Hopefully it didn't get made into car bumpers in the last 25 years like it seems the SVRy/Uintah malleys may have.
