I have much experience in track work. I have helped the WW&F building track and I have done a lot of tie replacement at NJMT. The last job I did was a few weeks ago. Me and my friend pulled and replaced in two hours four 13 foot ties with nothing but muscle power. Very hard work but well worth it. My friend cant hit a spike for his life so I hand spiked half of it and then we used the air hammer. It is hard work but I love doing it. I'm going to the WW&F in the fall again to help out. Now btw to give you all a little background on myself my name is Eric and I am a 17 year old Junior (soon to be senior) in high school from New Jersey. I have been a 5 year member of the New Jersey Museum of Transportation/Pine Creek RR. I am a certified brakeman and conductor and have done everything from spiking track to machining parts for a steam locomotive. I've crawled under cars to grease pins, I've cut stencils for lettering I've even run a locomotive a few times. I've seen and fixed derailments and so much more. I still have stuff to learn but I know more then your average young railfan and by personal getting my hands dirty experience. I love railroading and everything about it. If I had the time and the money at the moment I would go out to EBT right now. My idea wasn't going to happen right away. Anyway my book is on railroads. Its called "The Little Black Diamond. The Life and Times of a Narrow Gauge Coal Road." Its about my fictional railroad the East Tigard & Southern RR Co. It is much like the EBT but with many differences.
