Bill:
There was a car inspector at Marshall Pass and in 1935 his name was Jefferson. I am writing an article about a wreck on 492 on Poncha Pass in 1935 and the records show the inspector checking the air brake equipment on 39 loaded cars, one empty, a dead engine, and caboose. The car inspector issued an airbrake clearnce card to the engineer. The depot, turntable and other buildings were inside the snow shed at Marshall Pass, but I am not sure about the living quarters. A few buildings were attached to the snow sheds with enclosed walkways, so the inspector's quarters could have been inside the snow shed or outside but attached. Hope this is useful. I know the D&RGW had car inspectors at Crested Butte and Monarch and in earlier days at Cerro and Poncha Pass.
