Even more interesting is the SPEED with which the
scrapped the line in favor of trucks.
I have SVry records that show the following:
1. April 1, 1947 - The FIRST truck shipment of lumber from Bates to Baker.
2. April 12, 1947 - the LAST revenue train from Bates to Baker (Pulled by #251).
3. June 14, 1947 - Very last train on SVRy when #251 pulls flats with mill equipment to Bates and retuns the next day
4. July 22, 1947 - #250 and #251 leave in dismantled form on UP flats for shipment to Gutemala. Only SVRY power left is #101.
