I believe the Vinton Wight recordings of the D&RGW were issued by the Smithsonian as part of a series of American folkore LP's. they may be available from the Smithsonian as CD's now. I'll try and check.
North Jersey Records had some D&RGW sounds, and I believe others were available. I haven't found many, but I agree, they would be very welcome. There are several cuts on some of the old Mobile Fidelity LPs which include climbing the steep side of Cumbres in the early 1960's.
