Thanks earl; I was hoping we could get something
from someone who had been there and done that !
Somewhere in my tapes I have one I made from the doghouse of the road engine when we went up to Cumbres with 32 cars and with the helper on the rear.
In spite of the banging of the cistern cover, you can hear everything each engine is doing. It was
really impressive to set up there and see and listen to the way those two engineers worked together to get that train up the hill. And remember, that was before the crews carried radios. With their experience, they knew what the
other guy was going to do and with a few whistle signals, had everything working together.
It certainly is one of the experiences I would love to live over.
