John,
Sounds like you have had a very busy and rewarding career so far. As with Earl, I recall seeing you on various videotapes made on the C&TS. One of my favorites is the rebuilding of Locomotive 463.
I recall when I was on a cruise to Alaska, I encountered the White Pass's lone (then) steam locomotive on the wharf. I thought I recognized you in the cab and called up, "Aren't you John Bush?" I wasn't aware that you had moved to Alaska. You replied, "I was when I got up this morning!" You briefly described that the locomotive was getting a road test that morning.
Years ago, I was in Felton and rode the Roaring Camp and Big Trees train up the mountain. It was pulled by a Shay, my first experience with that interesting locomotive. Felton is a great place to be, given the climate and the huge redwoods.
Enjoy!
