If you're planning to see the Sierra #3 in the near future you're going to see a full size locomotive kit. The #3 is in the process of a rebuild and essentially is stripped down to its boiler and running gear. I happened to be at Jamestown in early October on the day the cab was lifted off for the first time since it received a steel cab (sorry no hidden surprises). George Sapp and I joked it would be fun to put it on ebay as a 1/1 scale locomotive kit with a reserve of 1 million dollars. We were just worried that someone out there was crazy enough to pay that much...
The work may be done by next summer. It sure would be nice to see it in steam again.
