The loco used in this film is the famious Serria Railroad #3 a Standard Gauge 4-6-0 built in 1891. As I expect you will now realise the locomotive was not destroyed but a 7.5'' gauge model was! #3 can still be seen at Railtown in Califoria were she occasionally operates. She is a stare in many other movies and TV shows!
